Integration Is Key

The common misconception, Masha says, is that the medicine does the work. She explains why preparation and integration carry the real change.

There is a myth Masha meets often: that the psychedelic itself is the key to healing. The medicine has a role, she says, but it is preparation and integration that do the lasting work.

What matters most tends to arrive after the journey, far beyond the first few weeks, in the practices a person keeps: a meditation, steadier sleep and nutrition, time in nature, a kinder sort of self-care.

This reflection draws on her clinical and psychedelic-assisted experience. Integration support is part of how MycoMuse facilitation is structured, and it is distinct from medical or psychotherapy care.

The biggest misconception that people get with psilocybin work, or work with psychedelics in general, is that the psychedelic is the key in their healing. And while the psychedelic itself plays a role, it is really the integration and preparation that is the key to healing. And it is the integration that happens after the journey, far beyond the first few weeks, that is the most important, as well as the practices that people use after the journey.

So what do I mean by practices? It is the newly learned habits and behaviors. Maybe it is a meditation, maybe it is just better care of self, maybe it is increased love toward self, whether it presents itself as better nutrition or maybe incorporation of exercise and just being in nature. Whatever it looks like, the practice and integration are, I would say, the most important components of the journey.

Every engagement begins with a complimentary 15-minute consultation. No commitment, just a conversation.
